A lot of car manufacturers are opting for diesel engines nowadays. Different types of cars, ranging from the very small ones to the ones that are all about luxury come with engines now. And the best thing is these engines are no longer considered “dirty”. Diesel is now synonymous with the cleanest technologies in fuel and diesel not only takes great care of the engine but also boasts of high fuel efficacy. Diesel was invented in 1893 by Rudolf Diesel and clean diesel technology was brought forth by Volkswagen and Mercedes-Benz, the German car manufacturers.
However if you are interested in diesel engines you will also need to know about the different types of the same. The first type of engine is the Common Rail Direct Injection. This is a pretty modern invention and is based on the principle of direct injection system of an engine. The CRDI will bolster the performance, take care of the engine and improve the mileage. This was invented and developed by Robert Huber, the Fiat Group used it widely and ultimately it was sold to Robert Bosch, the German company. In early 1990s it became extremely popular with urban car buyers because of its several benefits.
The second type of diesel engine is Multijet Fuel Injection. This too, was developed by the Fiat Group. And with this diesel engine system there was a vast improvement in the performance of the CRDI. The engine uses an injector to receive the inputs of fuel to a combustion chamber. The injector is essentially a valve that is spring loaded and it opens and closes at certain fuel pressure thereby producing energy. The multiple points of fuel injection are synchronized and they release a pre-determined amount of fuel in the combustion chamber. The other types of engines are Di Turbocharged and the Naturally Aspirated engine.
