Monsoon Care for Car Interiors

Brigitte Helene MoreauJuly 6, 2023May 7, 2023

One of the many problems associated with monsoons are stinking interiors primarily due to water seeping into the car. However, the interiors can be kept dry by following certain simple tips.

Floor mats are the first ones that get mucky as the dirt on the mat soaks up water more readily. This problem can be avoided by using reusable mats or any old mats. Once the rain stops, these mats can be removed and replaced with fresh, dry mats. One can also used rubber mats instead of fabric mats, as rubber mats do not absorb water readily.

One important aspect that can lead to stinking car interiors during monsoon is ventilation. If the interiors are wet, it is always better to roll down the windows so that the interiors get dried up. Apart from that, the car interiors should be cleaned periodically so as to keep dirt away. A dry feet or footwear would give better control on the pedals. Hence, one must ensure to have dry feet before entering the car.

Another major problem that commonly crops up is bad smell inside the car during monsoons. Molds that grow due to moisture and humidity are the main reasons for a stinking smell inside the car. These molds might be growing beneath carpets or other interior areas. It is always better to locate the area and use antifungal agents to remove molds.

Smells inside the car can be neutralized using car perfumes such as Ambi Pur Car. Spills, pet smells and urine smells should be treated in a different manner. The best method is to soak up as much as possible and let the area get dried up. Now, the area should be cleaned properly using a soap solution and allowed to get dried up.
